For decades, we've been pioneering LED technology as a long-life, low- power replacement for traditional light sources. In 1991 we introduced LED backlights as the superior alternative to fluorescent and EL-based solutions; we followed this up soon after with our semiconductor replacements for coloured neon lamps then, in 2001, introduced our first range of retrofit LED white light sources.
We've been devoting considerable R&D resources to lighting products ever since. In 2005 we were among the first to design and manufacture viable LED fluorescent-replacement fixtures capable of complete room illumination. We continue to further develop our cutting-edge range of LED lighting solutions, and now offer highly efficient, low maintenance replacements for a very wide range of general lighting applications.
We're now able to replace many traditional lighting technologies with our semiconductor lighting solutions; our LEDs can cut power consumption by between 50% and 90% compared with traditional light sources, while offering similar illumination levels as well as decades-long life expectancies. This has the benefit of all but eliminating waste bulbs and tubes, and because LED light sources generally radiate much less heat than their traditional counterparts, they are safer and more comfortable too.
